Meet the Team
Founder and President
Vera Fang
Vera is a rising sophomore at Inglemoor High School in Kenmore, Washington.
Driven by a deep passion for education, volunteering, and medicine, she founded the How2write Essay Workshop and Culture Club to share her love of learning within her community and is preparing to launch the Biology Club in school this year. As an avid reader and writer, she has extensive experience tutoring and mentoring many students in English and has also garnered acclaim in speech and language contests. Aspiring to be a doctor, she participates in biomedical competitions and is also a member of HOSA Future Health Professionals. Beyond academics, she dedicates time to volunteering, dancing in the Lavida Dance Team, and playing the violin in the Inglemoor Sinfonia Orchestra.
Co-Founder and Vice President
Cady Wu
Cady is a rising sophomore at Interlake High School in Bellevue, Washington. She has been a part of How2write as a co-founder and instructor, and has worked with elementary school teachers as a mentor and assistant. Cady is active in Speech and Debate, in which she leads her school's club as a co-captain and set a state record, as well as Model United Nations, having competed in affiliated competitions and winning over 50 national or international level awards. Outside of extracurriculars, she has tutored hundreds of others, sharing her love of learning. In her free time, she enjoys playing the piano, guzheng, writing poetry, painting, and baking.
PR Manager
Emily peng
Emily is a rising sophomore at Inglemoor High School in Kenmore, Washington. She has experience in math tutoring, babysitting, and volunteering. Emily is in Mock Trial as the PR Manager, the Formosan Association of Student Cultural Ambassadors, and is also a member of the Mental Health Advocacy Club and the Unified Club. Emily enjoys helping others and learning, and in her free time plays competitive volleyball and plays flute in her school band.

Emily Tsai is a rising sophomore at Woodinville High School in Woodinville, Washington. She is involved in her school's Science Club and the Seattle chapter of the Formosa Association of Student Cultural Ambassadors. Aside from being a competitive gymnast, Emily is also a lover of words and reading as a book blogger and a writer. In her free time, she enjoys baking, sewing, and researching obscure academic topics online.

Chenting wang
Chenting (Ting Ting) is a rising sophomore at Lake Washington High School in Kirkland, Washington. She has experience volunteering with hundreds of volunteering hours. She is a member of the American Computer Science League, the Formosan Association of Student Cultural Ambassadors, the Lead Mentor of a First Lego League robotics team, and more. In her free time, Ting Ting enjoys reading, writing, playing piano, and drawing.

irene tsao
Irene is a rising sophomore at Nathan Hale High School in Seattle, Washington. An avid lover of English, she has experience as a Kumon Instructor and a How2write instructor, and is a member of her school's National Honor Society, HOSA Future Health Professionals, the Formosan Association of Student Cultural Ambassadors, and the Seattle Aquarium YOA program. In her free time, she enjoys playing the flute (which she has won several awards for), reading, and drawing.

William liu
​William is a rising freshman at Mercer Island High School on Mercer Island, Washington. Will was a student speaker at his 8th-grade graduation and has a passion for writing essays and public speaking. His academic interests include studying advanced math, experimental science, robotics, and programming, since his goal for the future is to be an innovative engineer. He is a competitive swimmer for the Bellevue Club Swim Team and a percussionist performing with the Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestra and the Islander Middle School’s band and orchestra program. Reading, traveling, and volunteering are his hobbies outside of school.

Berkeley chen
Berkeley is a rising sophomore at Inglemoor High School in Kenmore, Washington. He's an active participant in the Formosan Association of Student Cultural Ambassadors as well as the Washington Network for Innovative Careers. He is also a member of school's Model United Nations, Technology Student Association, Distributive Education Clubs of America, and Robotics Club. Berkeley has enjoyed volunteering at food banks and nursing homes since his childhood. During his free time, he enjoys playing tennis, reading digital articles, and writing about topics that he enjoys, such as history, biology, architecture, etc.

owen huang
Owen is a rising sophomore at Bellevue High School in Bellevue, Washington. Outside of school, Owen is active in the Formosan Association of Student Cultural Ambassadors, an organization that aims to promote Taiwanese culture and bring Taiwanese students together, often helping out at events like the Double Ten Festival and the Bellevue Square New Year Event. In addition, Owen also volunteers at the Tzu Chi Academy Seattle (a Chinese cultural language school) and volunteers as a TA at the WCEO, a summer camp that teaches students ranging from kindergarten to 8th grade about Taiwanese culture. In his free time, he enjoys playing the violin, socializing, and playing competitive tennis on his school's team.
Teacher Assistant
Calvin chen
​Calvin is a rising 8th grader at Northshore Middle School in Bothell, Washington. He is an active member of his school's coding club and chess club. He has a background in volunteering through a service-learning elective, so he is eager to assist everyone at How2write, offering support to instructors and helping students grasp challenging concepts. When Calvin is not volunteering, he enjoys playing competitive tennis, playing ping pong, reading, and coding.
